This morning, on my way to let out Mr. Mako and serve breakfast, I spotted Tigger next door sitting outside, completely locked into another dimension.
I called his name and told him to come see me.
The look I got back clearly said:
“NOT NOW, MARY. I’M STALKING A SQUIRREL.”
His eyes never left the target.
So I slowly drove down the street, knowing full well he’d do what he always does and run alongside the fence. Sure enough, here came Tigger, racing down the fence line like my personal escort.
I stopped at the end of the yard, rolled down my window a little more, said hello, and told him I’d see him again in a few weeks.
A sweet little moment.
Or so I thought.
At that exact second, the sprinkler system turned on.
Not just any sprinkler.
The one sprinkler apparently assigned to water the street.
And somehow, by the grace of perfect timing, it was aimed directly at my face.
One second I’m having a touching conversation with Tigger.
The next second I’m getting power-washed through my open car window.
Face soaked.
Shirt soaked.
Inside of the car soaked.
Tigger? Completely unbothered.
Honestly, all I could do was sit there laughing hysterically.
Just another normal day in the life of a pet sitter.
I can already picture Tigger watching the whole thing thinking, “Well… that’s unfortunate. Anyway, back to the squirrel.” 😂🐿️🐕
